Start your tour in Bergen with a scenic cruise on the fjord to Rosendal, where you can explore the picturesque village, visit the famous Rosendal barony or take a hike with panoramic views over the fjord. Travel deeper into the heart of Hardanger, where rugged mountains meet sparkling fjords. Embark on a guided hike to Trolltunga, one of Norway’s most famous natural sites. Stand on the edge of the rock, suspended above the fjord, and admire the panoramic views – a challenging but rewarding adventure.

Nestled on the edge of Hardangerfjord, Lofthus offers peaceful orchards and superb mountain views. Here you can take the Queen’s Panoramic Hike, a magnificent trail that follows in the footsteps of Norwegian royalty, with views of Hardangerfjord and the Folgefonna glacier. Along the way, stop to sample the region’s famous ciders, produced in the surrounding orchards.

Continue your boat trip to the peaceful village of Ulvik, surrounded by fruit trees and rolling hills. Explore the idyllic landscape, visit the local cider farms and take time to soak up the peace and tranquility of this hidden gem along the fjord.

Voss, Norway’s adventure capital, is the final stop on this tour. Here you can choose from guided activities such as white-water rafting, cycling or hiking. You can also rent a bike, take a gondola or explore on foot.

For an unforgettable complement to your visit, add a ride on the Flåmsbana railway, one of the world’s most famous train routes. This picturesque route takes you through Norway’s spectacular landscapes, offering breathtaking views.

The Hardangerfjord adventure is an immersive 8-day self-guided tour that explores some of Norway’s most beautiful fjord landscapes, starting and finishing in Bergen. Traveling smoothly by local bus, you’ll visit must-see sites like the charming village of Rosendal, where you can :

  • explore the historic barony and superb rose gardens ;
  • take a guided hike to Trolltunga, the iconic cliff overlooking Lake Ringedalsvatnet ;
  • and hike the Queen’s Panoramic Trail (“Dronningstien”) from Lofthus, admiring the breathtaking views over the fjord, framed by orchards and mountains.

The journey continues to Ulvik, known for its serene setting and cider farms, and then on to Voss, a picturesque center for outdoor activities and relaxation. With comfortable accommodation at every stop, you’ll enjoy the region’s hospitality and local cuisine, making this trip the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Depart Bergen by express boat for Rosendal.

Departure 08.50 or 16.30 Mon-Fri. 11.00 Sat/Sun. Discovery of Rosendal on arrival. Dinner and accommodation at Rosendal Turisthotell.

Day 2: Exploring Rosendal.

Bus to Tyssedal. Rosendal is a charming village known for its breathtaking combination of fjord, mountains and cultural heritage. Suggestions for Rosendal:
– The manor house and rose garden
– Rosendal Stone Park
– Folgefonn Center
– Salmon Eye
– Hiking at Hattebergsdalen, Malmangernuten or Melderskin. You can choose different bus departures to Tyssedal, depending on the day of the week (not included). Accommodation at Hotel Tyssedal (free use of sauna).

Day 3: Trolltunga guided hike

Shuttle to the starting point of the hike, where you will meet your guide for the day. This is a tough hike, and you need to be used to walking. Bring clothing for wind and sudden rain, as well as sturdy hiking boots. Trolltunga is one of Norway’s most picturesque and spectacular cliffs, rising 700 meters above Lake Ringdalsvatnet. Accommodation at Hotel Tyssedal (free use of sauna). 20 km/900 m ascent/ 8-12 hours)

Day 4: Bus to Lofthus. Discover Lofthus.

Choose any bus departure for Lofthus (not included). Lofthus is a picturesque village on the shores of Hardangerfjord. This region is particularly renowned for its fruit production. The trees blossom magnificently in spring, giving way to brilliant fruit in late summer and autumn. Fruit, juices and jams can be purchased from the farmers. Suggestions for Lofthus:
– Walk in the river valley

Day 5: Optional hike.

Queen`s Panoramic Trail Hardanger (16 km/ 900 m ascent/6-10 hours). You take the shuttle bus (not included) to the starting point and finish the hike at the hotel. The hike begins with a steep 3 km climb before the terrain becomes more varied and you’re treated to beautiful views of the fjord and Folgefonna glacier. The descent to Lofthus is steep, partly on steps (Monk’s Steps), until you reach the fruit farms at the bottom of the valley and can enjoy fresh apple juice. Husedalen (15.5 km round trip / 850 m ascent / 6-7 hours). You take the local bus to Kinsarvik (not included), and start the hike near the church. You follow the river, through the forest, and at the start of the climb, you’ll pass 4 beautiful waterfalls if you follow the trail to the top. Dinner and accommodation at Hotel Ullensvang (free use of wellness area).

Day 6: Boat to Ulvik.

Exploration of Ulvik. Boat departs at 10:15 a.m., arrival at 11:15 a.m. Ulvik is known for its serene fjord views, lush orchards and numerous local farms producing a variety of ciders, juices and jams. Suggestions for Ulvik:
-Safari at IRB (to be booked)
-Hike to Solhaug hut
-Hike the fruit and cider route
-Guided kayak tour (to be booked) Dinner and accommodation at Hotel Brakanes (outdoor hot tub/sauna, indoor pool).

Day 7: Bus to Voss. Discover Voss.

You can choose between several bus departures (not included). The journey takes about 1 hour, with 1 bus change. Voss is known as the adventure capital of Norway and attracts outdoor enthusiasts and adrenalin junkies all year round. The village is surrounded by mountains, lakes and waterfalls, and is famous for its local specialty, smoked lamb. Suggestions for Voss:
-Take the gondola up to Hangurstoppen (818 m). Ideal starting point for a variety of activities: hiking, biking, insta spots, swimming pond and restaurant. -Rent a bike or join a guided bike tour (booking required). -Hike to Bordalsgjelet. Round trip from the center of Voss, 5 km. White-water rafting (booking required). -Guided hike (reservation required). Dinner and accommodation at Hotel Fleicher (wellness area with pool, jacuzzi and sauna).

Day 8: Train to Bergen.

Several departures are possible. Please let us know the departure time for which you would like tickets. It is also possible to change train tickets for Oslo after the trip (additional cost). By adding nights in Voss, you’ll have more time for activities.
